This book starts for beginners, with definitions of various tools, yarn fibers, and lots of photos. There are 6 lessons, which take you from learning how to hold the yarn, casting on, knitting and purling to more advanced things like knitting in the round with circular or double point needles.

Each lesson has a practice project at the end of the lesson so that you can practice for a week before moving on. I have suggested with each practice project something like a scarf with garter stitch, knit purl designs, ribbing for a hat, and on to using kitchener stitch for armpits in a sweater. The book advances the way it did in my knitting classes, which I used to do in person.
